Emergency Care Assistant (ECA)
As an emergency care assistant (ECA) you will provide excellent pre-hospital care to patients, usually alongside a paramedic. You will respond to a wide variety of situations including medical emergencies, inter-hospital transfers, urgent hospital admissions and other operational activities as and when required.
As an ECA you will drive a range of Trust vehicles, in both emergency and non-emergency conditions, to ensure the timely transport of patients. Additionally you will be responsible for accurately completing patient report forms. You will have excellent communication skills and be calm, caring and professional when talking with patients, relatives, colleagues and other health professionals.
- You'll usually need five GCSEs at grades 9 to 4 (A* to C), or equivalent, including English and maths, for an advanced apprenticeship.
- Full UK driving licence including entitlement to drive vehicles in category C1 (maximum three points)
- Experience of dealing with the general public
- Good verbal, listening and written communication skills
